Community Outreach | Tijuana, Mexico

For those of you who are “old school” this is what we use to call ‘Bath or Wash Days’.  But, because the ministry has become so much more than that, that we now call  it ‘Activity Days’.  Every Thursday and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, we are serving in a 5 different neighborhood rotation.  Activity days are mainly focused on the children of these neighborhoods. The morning starts off with music, games and scripture for the kids, and then boys and girls will split up and go to their respective tents. There they will get their feet and hair washed, and those who need it, will get their hair de-loused.  Afterwards, they will go and choose a new item of clothing and each child will then have an opportunity to get a soda, popcorn, or maybe candy, and always pieces of fresh fruit.  While all of this is going on, the parents receive fresh vegetables, a clothing item, and sometimes items for their home, as well as have an opportunity to hear the Gospel.  And, of course, let’s not forget the free haircuts available for all of the boys. Now you see why we call it an “Activity Day”!
